The International Garden Festival at the Chateau Chaumont sur Loire (Centre Loire Valley Region) has been providing a unique panorama of landscape design all over the worldsince 1992. Over the course of its 18 seasons, almost 400 gardens have been designed, all of which are prototypes of the gardens of the future. This year's event will take place fromApril 29-October 17, 2010.
At the same time a source of ideas and a nursery for talent, the festival gives an extra boost to the art of gardens and peaks the interest of both the public and those in the trade by displaying new flower arrangements, new materials, new ideas and new approaches. The diversity and the high quality of the projects have contributed to the international reputation of the festival, which has become a can’t-miss meeting place for displaying the work of a new generation of landscape gardeners, architects, designers, or gardeners.
Next to the festival, the valley of the mists (Vallon des Brumes), the experimental garden, the wild iron pathway (Sentier des Fers Sauvages) and certain banks show permanent experimental gardens that change throughout the seasons.
The theme of the 2010 festival is “Body and Soul Gardens.”
Each year, Chaumont sur Loire offers its audience relaxing moments in the middle of nature but with the extraordinary inventiveness of man;contemporary inventiveness with gardeners from all around the world and the inventiveness of the architect of the past with this magnificent castle from 15th century.
